Chad's 1993 Honda Del Sol

When you think of the Honda Del Sol, what's the first thing that comes to mind? For me it's a good weather weekend car. With the removable targa top, the power rear window and 2-seat configuration, you wouldn't think it would be a desirable daily driver. Chad (a good friend of mine for about 15 years) started his journey looking for a manual daily driver. After some convincing I talked him into looking for a 90's Honda.

Within a few weeks Chad told me about a Del Sol parked on the side of the road with a for sale sign in the window. We went to take a look at it and surprisingly for its age, and living in the northeast where rust is common, the car was in relatively good shape. Chad contacted the owner and arranged to purchase the car, a 1993 Honda Del Sol S.

After purchasing the car and getting familiar with driving manual, Chad began to modify the car slowly with tasteful mods, wanting it to be a simple daily driver to enjoy during the warmer months. After hitting a deer, the front-end replacement came in the form of a 96-97 OEM front bumper and JDM one-piece headlights. He then decided to have the body work done due to the car being covered in dents from front to rear. The car was then resprayed in the factory Milano Red paint.

As for future plans with the car, Chad recently picked up a K20Z3 swap with a matching 6 speed transmission to power the car. With this also comes plans to clean up the engine bay. He also has plans to upgrade the brakes and suspension components in the future.
